What does shopping local mean to you as a small business owner? What impact does people's choice to shop local make on your life?
I live in a small rural community surrounded by the same. People try to support local farmers and restaurants, and I believe that suppory should continue to the small business owner. Shopping locally benefits everyone in these small towns. It encourages new businesses to set up shop, thereby bringing even more people to the towns & events.

How has running a small business changed your life?
I chose to start my own business and stop expending my energy on someone else's profits. When someone purchases from me, it makes it possible for me to volunteer in my daughter's class. This helps the over-worked teacher, as well as making other moms relax a bit knowing more people are watching out for their little ones.

A purchase from me also means that I can volunteer time to the local PTO as well as other charities.

Finally, I have a heart condition that was making traditional work difficult. Now I can choose my own projects and pace - all because someone is making that purchase and keeping me in business!
