Susan Kuhn: Sleeping Bear Quilts

Bio:  Chemist turned mom turned quilter. Ten years ago, I couldn't thread a needle let alone a sewing machine. Now I can't sit still with some kind of handwork project and the garage is my sewing studio.

What makes you happy? Running, sewing, working in my garden, and spending time with my family keep me happy.

What does the handmade movement mean to you? The handmade movement encourages me to think uniquely and step away from the 'big box' stores. Also to leave my comfort zone and try something new.

What inspires you? Colors and textures inspire me to keep creating.

Who do you look up to? I look up to Jennie Love, owner of Love n' Fresh Flowers. She started her own sustainable flower farming business outside of Philadelphia and has become a highly sought after floral designer.

Anything else you want to tell us? I like trying new things and meeting new people. Everyone has a story and you never know with whom you might cross paths.
